After you write a post and before you hit send, reread it. Does it make sense? Did you leave out a word that changes the meaning of what you wanted to say? Remember that social media is about interacting with other people online. What you say can hurt someone’s feelings even if that wasn’t your intention. You can delete things, but sometimes people will have seen what you posted before you delete it. Remember: Don’t share news that isn’t yours to share. If it involves another person, let them share the news.

Before you make a post, ask yourself these questions:

■ Are you making a comment that someone may not understand?

■ Would you be okay with a college admissions officer seeing this post?

■ Would your future employer be okay with seeing this post?

■ Is the post embarrassing to someone else?
